Re:Test Develops a Shock Amplifier for Weapon Simulation
Re:Test has been working with NAVSEA Crane for many years to develop a shock amplifier to simulate live firing of small arms on rifle accessories. The second generation unit mounts on the slip table of a electrodynamic shaker, and recreates the measured weapon shock profiles for fully automatic and semi automatic firing. A complete 20,000 round life test can be completed in 90 minutes. This programmable fixture closely reproduces Shock Response Spectra (SRS) on small arms accessories. A paper on the first gerneration system that was developed for Bruel and Kjaer was presented at the SAVIAC 76th Shock and Vibration Symposium. Click here to read. Videos of the system in opperation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vq2m6iLhKJM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YAWdeKiyPJE " One of the projects we hired Nigel for involved measuring the impulsive response of a controlled explosion and reproducing it on a closed-loop shaker system. Upon measuring the reference vibration levels, Nigel found that the customer owned a shaker that would not produce enough excitation, so he quickly designed a force multiplier to prevent additional expense to the customer. This is but one example of how Nigel took charge of this project and completed it as our representative with a high degree of professionalism. Obviously, we were very pleased with our continued relationship with Nigel Linden." Tony Frazer of Bruel and Kjaer.
